Good Wednesday Morning Blog Family. I pray you are having an awesome day in the Lord filled with all of His grace and mercy. Praise His Holy Name.
As I was having my coffee this morning I decided to do a re-posting of a blog from October of last year. It just seemed to be fitting for this mornings post. Enjoy a second time❤🙏🏽
This morning I was viewing some posts on my Facebook page when I came across a post from a young lady. She had also came across a poem that took her back to her Grandmama drinking coffee from her saucer after over flowing from her cup. This also took me back as I remembered my Grandmama and Great Grandmama doing the same thing. So, I decided to share this poem this morning with all of you for my post today.
This was posted by Rosita Goss, “She said My grandmother always drank her coffee like this! I thought it was because it was too hot. Do you remember older generations drinking from their saucer? Then today I came across this poem that made me feel there was symbolism to the coffee ritual.”
Drinking from My Saucer
by John Paul Moore
I’ve never made a fortune and it’s probably too late now.
But I don’t worry about that much, I’m happy anyhow.
And as I go along life’s way, I’m reaping better than I sowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.
I don’t have a lot of riches, and sometimes the going’s tough.
But I’ve got loved ones around me, and that makes me rich enough.
I thank God for his blessings, and the mercies He’s bestowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer, ’Cause my cup has overflowed.
I remember times when things went wrong, my faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke, and the sun peeped through again.
So God, help me not to gripe about the tough rows that I’ve hoed.
I’m drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.
If God gives me strength and courage, when the way grows steep and rough.
I’ll not ask for other blessings, I’m already blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy, to help others bear their loads.
Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.
I thought this was an awesome post by Rosita Goss and a beautiful poem by Paul Moore, thank you both for sharing. To think that watching my Grandmama and Great Grandmama drink their coffee like this for years had a lesson in it that I would learn about so many years later. If you are still blessed to have your grand’s and great grands, spend some time with them and listen to all of the wisdom they have to share. They have lived through a lot, seen a lot and heard a lot and it is so important for those nuggets of wisdom to be passed on to us. Trust me, there are times that will come up in your life and because of those conversations with our grand’s and great grand’s we will know exactly what to do. God Bless 🙂
Prayer
Father God, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord and Savior. Giving You all of the praise, honor and glory that belongs to You. This morning we just want to say thank You for all of the wisdom and knowledge that was passed down to us from past generations. The relationships with You back then were a lot different than they are today, because our older generation families didn’t just know who You were, they knew You. They had the kind of relationship with You that actually moved mountains out of their way, no matter how big. The knew how to connect to You and Your power that changed lives. Father, help us to have that kind of relationship with You today, as our older generations did. Amen.
