Count Your Blessings

Good Monday Morning. I pray everyone had a safe and blessed weekend and ready to start another week. Seeking God and asking for instructions and directions for the days ahead.

Over the last 3 weeks, I have had the pleasure of talking to and hearing different women talk about their lives. It was truly amazing and such a blessing for me. It made me look at my own life and appreciate all of my blessings. I think sometimes we get caught up in focusing on what we don’t have instead of being thankful for what we do have. It seems like the more we have the more we want, never satisfied.

During our devotion time at church Sunday, we gave everyone an opportunity to give a testimony. Almost everyone had something to say, giving a testimony or just being thankful. It was amazing. I think that just shows God how grateful and appreciative we are of all that He does and who He is in our lives. But, just in case you feel like you are not being blessed. Maybe you don’t think you have a lot to be thankful for. I made a small check list below for you:

  1. If you woke up this morning in your right mind and everything on your body works, that’s a blessing. Someone did’t wake up this morning. Someone woke up this morning, but not in their right mind and could’t get out of bed.
  2. Having food in your house is a blessing. You may say, well I don’t have a lot and it’s really not what I want. Well, being able to eat and not being hungry is a blessing. Someone went to bed last night with no food and hungry and still hungry this morning.
  3. Being able to have a home to shelter you from the outside and the elements is a blessing. What some people call shelter, we call a bridge and we drive across the top of their home everyday.
  4. What about that job that you hate with everything in you, getting harder and harder each day to get up and go to work, having a job is a blessing. There are people that would love to have your job and be happy to get up and go to work every day.
  5. And lets not forget the spouse and the children that are constantly getting on your nerves and you wish you could give them both to someone else, they are a blessing. There are a lot of women and men who would love to have and love your family because they don’t have a family of their own, for whatever reason.

Now, can you see your blessings and realize you have a lot to be thankful for? Just because you may not live in your dream house, drive your dream car, eat or dress like royalty and belong to the most prestigious country club. Does not mean you don’t have anything to be thankful for. Ephesians 5:20 reads, “Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Stop for a minute and think about who you belong to and who your Daddy is. You are the child of a King and an Heir to Jesus Christ. So, that makes you royalty and you belong to the most prestigious club there is, The Kingdom of God, right? Philippians 4:19 reads, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” And about those nerve wrecking children and spouse, Psalm 127:3 reads, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.” 1 Peter 4:8 reads, ” Above all, love each other deeply; because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

So, take a minute and look around you at all of your blessings and all that you have to be thankful for. I am sure you have so many more blessings you can count than I listed above. God is good all the time and all that time God is good and that means He is good to you all the time. God Bless 🙂
