A couple of days ago I was reading about the Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting in California. People went to the festival with family and friends for a day of fun and enjoyment. Unaware they would soon be running for their lives and some losing their lives. Living in this world today can be very frightening. There is so much evil all around us, people are afraid to leave their house.
Although, God instructs us in His Word to not be afraid. Fear is not from God and He does not want us to let it enter into our hearts. I know that can be hard sometimes because of the news, radio and even social media. I have listed a few scriptures below to stand on and to help us overcome the fears of living in this evil world:
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?
Isaiah 35:4 Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, He will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you.”
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world give. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 118:6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
These are just a few scriptures that you can start out reading and standing on. There are so many scriptures in the Bible on fear and not being afraid, because God does not want us afraid. I pray the scriptures I listed will help you not to be fearful or afraid. God Bless 🙂

I love your passage. People are afraid, but thank the Lord for Jesus. He said that He would never leave or forsake us.
