Don’t Leave Home Without It

Ephesians 6:10-17 reads, “(10) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. (11) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (13) Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (14) Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, (15) and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. (16) In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (17) Take the helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

I heard a Pastor say that we should go through the motions. Acting as if we are placing each piece of armor where God instructed us to place it. Then believe by faith you are completely covered and protected wearing the full armor of God. Standing firm on the Word of God and His promises.

I remember in school, we would have fire drills. Where the fire alarm would go off and everyone in the school would exit the building. All of the classrooms would form lines and exit the closest exit near your room. In case of a real fire, we would would know what to do to get out of the building safely.

Putting on the full armor of God reminds me of that fire drill. Going through the motions of putting on the armor of God before leaving your house. Teaching your children to do the same and making sure they understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. Study Ephesians 6:10-17 with your family and put it into practice every day. The devil is busy shooting those flaming arrows. Before you and your family leave the house every morning, make sure you have on your protective gear, the armor of God. God Bless πŸ™‚
