Getting Rid Of The Bad Habits

Good Monday Morning Blog Family. I pray everyone had a wonderful weekend and made it top priority to make all Mother’s feel more special than you normally do. I pray all mother’s had a blessed Mother’s day filled with all of the love you deserve. Even though my Mother is in heaven, she is still loved and greatly missed. Praise God.

Well Blog Family, let’s talk about those bad habits that we have and need to get rid of. First, let’s make sure we all know what a bad habit is and that would be a negative behavior pattern that you continue to do. Which can be anything from cheating, lying, over eating, procrastinating, gossiping, picking at your sibling, being negative, swearing, drinking, using drugs, smoking, gambling, there are too many things to list. It would take too long to list all of the bad habits in this world, but I am sure you get the big picture.

If you allow it to, a bad habit can cause a lot problems for you and for other people around you. It can cause health problems, financial problems, family problems and many other problems. A lot of these bad habits are mostly found in adults, but there are a lot of bad habits that children pick up by themselves or from their parents. For children in school, cheating on a test can become a very bad habit. You aren’t actually learning anything because you are not studying, you are hiding answers to use or looking on someone else’s paper. Being a bully, laughing and making fun of someone is another very bad habit. Constantly picking on your sibling can also turn into a bad habit. Consequences for cheating or bullying in any form never turns out good, so beware. An old saying that comes to mind is, “If you do the crime, you do the time.” So, be ready to accept the punishment for what ever your bad habit caused you to do.

We can be cleansed from bad or negative habits by seeking God’s help. 1 John 1:9 reads, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” There is no habit so bad you can’t take it to the Father and repent, ask Him to forgive you and He will. He will also help you to overcome whatever it is you are needing to overcome. Nothing is too hard for God, nothing. God also knows your heart, and He knows if you are serious or pretending when you come to Him. God will help you if you allow Him to. 1Corinthians 10:13 reads, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

Make sure whatever it is you decide to do will please God, not man. If you live with that thought in your heart, then you are sure to live a life that is pleasing to God and not full of bad habits. Now, keep in mind we are not perfect and we all fall and make mistakes, but we don’t have to keep falling and making those some mistakes. Because that is when they become those bad and negative habits that we should stop doing. Make it a good habit to follow God’s ways and not the worlds ways. Romans 12:2 reads, “Do no be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that be testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Kick those bad habits out of your life as if you were kicking the devil out, because sometimes you are. The devil is behind a lot of the bad and negative habits we get hung up in. Although, sometimes it may not be the devil, it just may be you and the choices you make. But, just in case you have given that old devil a foothold in your mind, remember what James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” So, you have God’s help if you want it, He is there. Ask God to help you get rid of all of those bad and negative habits in your life and move forward in Him. Practice good and positive habits instead. God Bless 🙂
