In The Midst Of The Storm

Good Monday Morning Blog Family. I pray everyone had a safe and blessed weekend and ready to start a new week. Starting your day and week with God this morning and receiving all instructions. Not only receiving instructions but ready to obey those instructions. Whatever God speaks to your heart, whether understood or not, just do it.

James 1:22-25 reads, “22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” This sounds like the making of a blessed day and week.

I have a good example of listening and obeying what God instructs us to do. My husband and I had listened to a teaching about Jeremiah, I believe it was the night before or it could have been the next morning. Anyway, we were traveling along the freeway and it started to rain. I had opened my Bible to read the book of Jeremiah to read over the teaching we had listened to. As I started to read Jeremiah, the rain started to really come down and the wind started blowing and there was even some hail. I immediately started to pray for us and everyone on the freeway because there was hardly any visibility. People had started pulling off on the side of the freeway because they could not see ahead of them. My husband kept going and I kept praying.

During all of this, I still had my Bible in my lap and still in the book of Jeremiah. Immediately, I felt in my heart to turn to the book of Joshua and I started to read the first chapter. Joshua 1: 5-9 reads, “5 As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

When I read Joshua, the fear that I had allowed to come upon me because I took my eyes off of Jesus and put them on the storm. I started to trust God in this storm instead of being afraid of this storm. As soon as I read Joshua and started obeying what God was telling me to do in His Word. I calmed down and so did the storm, The rain, wind and hail almost completely stopped and the sun broke through the clouds. When I started to be strong and courageous and believing and knowing my God was with me, everything changed. When I felt the need to read Joshua instead of Jeremiah, that was God reminding me of what I already knew. That He is with me wherever I go and whatever I am faced with, He is with me. No need to be afraid, He is always with me. All we have to do is listen to Him, do what He tells us to do, believe and trust Him and obey. So simple, yet sometimes we can make it so hard. Just listen to Him and obey and be blessed. God Bless 🙂
