A few years ago before the pandemic, I was asked to speak at a Women’s Mission meeting. Whenever I am asked to speak, I immediately pray about it and ask the Holy Spirit to help me. So, one night after praying about what I would speak about. I heard this question in my spirit, “is your house clean?” When I heard the question, I repeated it out loud a couple of times and then thought about it. He’s not asking about the house in which I live. He’s asking about the house in which He lives. My body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Corinthians 6:19 reads, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;” So, I will ask you the same question I was asked. Is your house clean? Let’s take a few minutes and do a quick inventory of what you have in your house.
- Starting with the attic of your house, your mind. Philippians 4:8 reads, Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about these things.”
- Moving on to the windows in your house. The windows to your soul, your eyes. Psalm 101:3 reads, “I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless.”
- Now, on to the side vents of your house, your ears. Ezekiel 12:2 reads, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” What are you allowing yourself to hear?
- Next, let’s talk about the main entrance to your house. The front door and mat, better known as the mouth and the tongue. James 3:9-10 reads, “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.” Psalm 141:3 reads, “Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”
- Now let’s talk about the central unit in your house, your heart. Ezekiel 36:26 reads,”I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Psalm 119:11 reads, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
Is the Spirit of God welcomed in your house? Can He dwell there or is it too cluttered with other things? If so, ask God to remove everything that He did not put there and fill your house with more of Him and less of you. God Bless 🙂
Prayer
Father God, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord and Savior. Giving You all of the praise and the glory that belongs to You. Thanking You for You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit that helps us with our daily walk on this journey called life. You have given us Your Holy Word as our instruction manual to live the way You want us to live. Help us to live this life You have given us the way You intend for us to live through Your Word. Help us to keep our house clean in order for it to be occupied by the things of God and nothing else. Amen
