It’s Not All About You

Good Wednesday Morning. Thanking God for a blessed night of rest, sweet sleep and rest in the Lord. Praise God.

I was doing a little Bible reading yesterday and I read a passage in the Message Bible, in which I often do. It was such an eye opener for me that I had to share it. I am sure we have all read Philippians 2: 1-4, I have read it but not in the Message Bible. This is how it reads:

Philippians 2:1-4 (Message Bible), “If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if His love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care – then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand.”

Wow, was that not enough to make you stop and take a look at yourself? How you treat others and whether you have made everything about you or others. After all, we are supposed to put others before ourselves but that doesn’t mean that is what we do. It’s sad to say, but sometimes there are those that even step on others to get to where they want to be. Not caring about anyone but themselves and that is not how we are instructed to be. We should always be mindful and caring of others, willing to help any way we can.

Just remember what you make happen for others God will make happen for you. God blesses you, you bless others and it comes right back to you. You cannot out give God when we are doing what God tells us to do and do it with a cheerful heart. If you are going to help someone grudgingly, you may as well not even help. So, take a look at your life when it comes to others and see if there are any changes that need to be made. If so, make them and do what is right in the eyes of God and do it for the right reason. Remember, to be the kind of friend that you want in return. God Bless 🙂

Prayer

Father God, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus. We thank You for everything that You do for us. Help us to be more Christ like and to follow Him. Help us to do things and treat people the way Jesus would have. Thank You and Amen
