Good Thursday Morning Blog Family. I pray everyone’s having a safe and blessed morning in the Lord. Praise God.
I was reading my devotion and it was talking about the scapegoat that was used for the sins of the people in the Old Testament. So, last night before going to bed during my prayer time. I asked the Holy Sprit to give me something to blog about this morning. Well, He brought this back to my memory this morning about the scapegoat and I thought about how Jesus took on our sins for us. I went to the book of Leviticus to read up on this before I wrote my blog. It amazes me when the Holy Spirit brings certain scriptures to mind that I have read many times before and when I read it now my understanding is so much clearer. He’s showing me something that I missed before that I need to know, amazing.
So, I want to share a little bit of the scriptures about this scapegoat. Leviticus 22:20-28 reads, “When Aaron has finished making atonement for the Most Holy Place, the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall bring forward the live goat. 21 He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites—all their sins—and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task. 22 The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a remote place; and the man shall release it in the wilderness.
23 “Then Aaron is to go into the tent of meeting and take off the linen garments he put on before he entered the Most Holy Place, and he is to leave them there. 24 He shall bathe himself with water in the sanctuary area and put on his regular garments. Then he shall come out and sacrifice the burnt offering for himself and the burnt offering for the people, to make atonement for himself and for the people. 25 He shall also burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.
26 “The man who releases the goat as a scapegoat must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp. 27 The bull and the goat for the sin offerings, whose blood was brought into the Most Holy Place to make atonement, must be taken outside the camp; their hides, flesh and intestines are to be burned up. 28 The man who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp.”
Wow, that’s a lot to go through to get rid of sin in your life, but it was normal for back then. So, Jesus was like our scapegoat, our sins were placed upon Him as the Israelites sins were placed on the head of the goat. Jesus was led to the cross whereas the goat was led into the wilderness to get rid of the sins committed. Amazing.
Now, aren’t you so glad God sent Jesus to take our sins upon Himself on the cross? I am forever so grateful for what He did and it only took one time. He took on all of our sins as He was on the cross, taking our place. How can you not love Jesus and give your life completely to Him? Now when we sin, we just have to repent and ask for forgiveness and try not to commit that same sin again. So, before you decide to sin again, think about what Jesus went through for you on the cross and the price He paid. God Bless 🙂

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we come to You this morning to say thank You. Thank you for taking our sins upon Yourself and going to the cross to take our place. We are ever so grateful. Amen
