Let Your Light Shine

Good Wednesday Morning Blog Family. I pray all of you are having a safe and blessed week so far in this New Year. Today is a rainy and cold day where I am, but I will still rejoice and be glad in it. Everyday is made by God and He has allowed you to be a part of it and that’s reason enough to rejoice. Praise His Holy Name.

When we were children growing up, I am sure we all can remember the song, “This Little Light of Mine.” Especially if you were in church, the children would always sing this song. As children, we were just singing the song, probably not really knowing the meaning of what we were singing. “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine. This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine. This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. All around my home, I’m going to let it shine. All through my neighborhood, I’m going to let it shine. All in my school, I’m going to let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine.”

As I was reading my devotion this morning, I read a scripture that reminded me of that song. It was a reminder to me that my light should still be shining for the world to see. Not just in my home or in my neighborhood but everywhere I go. Matthew 5:14-16 reads, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

John 8:12 reads, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” So, these two scriptures are telling us that our light should be shining for the world to see. If you are a true Christian and you belong to Jesus and He lives in your heart. Then the light of Jesus should be shining through all the time. Allowing people to see how wonderful He is through you, your life, your actions and your words.

We as Christians are that light in dark places that will help to draw people out of the darkness into the light. Allow Jesus to use you any way He chooses and watch your light shine for all to see. Especially all of the darkness that is in this world today. People will begin to stop and ask you how you can be so full of joy and life during these perilous times. Then you can tell them about Jesus and that light they are asking about. What an awesome testimony and witness for Jesus that would be. So, remember to always allow the light of Jesus to shine through no matter where you are for all to see. God Bless 🙂
