Good Monday Morning Blog Family. I don’t know what the weather is like where you are this morning, probably hot loke it is here. Isn’t that just like us, when it’s hot, we wish for cooler weather and when it’s cold we wish for warmer weather. I just kind of laughed at myself and grabbed my husbands hoodie and now I am warm, lol. We are never totally satisfied, but guess what? God loves us anyway and I am so glad He does. Praise God.
This morning we are going to be talking a little bit about the book of Proverbs, about the wisdom and knowledge that comes from God. Like the fear of God, the reverential fear of God that is talked about in Proverbs 1:7 which reads, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” I am sure we have all read the book of Proverbs before, if not, you need to. There are 31 verses in Proverbs and you could read one for each day of the month if you don’t have time to read it all in one sitting. So, make no excuses, it can and should be done and I will explain why.
Proverbs is considered the book of wisdom and knowledge from God. In researching a little on the Book of Proverbs, I found some interesting notes. I came across the question, “What do the Proverbs teach us?” Well, I decided to read a little further and this is what it said, “Proverbs are Biblical wisdom regarding morality and right versus wrong. Proverbs was written by King Solomon, who is considered one of the wisest men in the Bible. In the case of Proverbs, the wisdom is based on the knowledge and fear of God as opposed to how much knowledge an individual has.” There is so much truth to this. This is why we should seek God before we seek anything else in our Christian walk, why? Because God knows everything and He knows what is best for us, even though we think we do. We think we know it all, our way is the best way, if it’s not my way then it’s wrong, and so on and so on. We go to college and get a good education and that is a good thing, but don’t think you are so smart that you don’t need to consult God. King Solomon was the wisest man in the Bible and he still consulted in God.
If you haven’t read 1 Kings 3:1-15, I strongly suggest you do. In 1 Kings 3:3 it reads, “Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.” So, he was obedient and he followed God’s instructions that he had been taught to him by his father David. Then in 1 Kings 3:5 it reads, “At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” Now Solomon cold have asked for anything, but he didn’t ask for worldly things, like some of us probably would have done. In 1 Kings 3:9 it reads, “So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people nd to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” God was pleased with what Solomon had asked for and he gave him just that, a wise and discerning heart. You will need to read 1Kings 3:1-15 to get all of what was said between King Solomon and God, it will take your faith to another level, I promise.
I used King Solomon as a good example of seeking God and having reverential fear of God. Below I also posted the first few verses of Proverbs for you to get you started. Because we as Christians need to seek God in everything and I mean everything. The reverential fear of God is having and showing respect for God and it is the beginning of His knowledge in your life. Seek God before you make choices and decisions and He will direct your paths, for He knows what you don’t know and He see’s what you don’t see. Ask for His wisdom and knowledge and He will give it to you, just trust Him and be obedient and follow all of His instructions. God Bless 🙂

Heavenly Father, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord and Savior. Giving You all of the praise, honor and glory that belongs to You. Thank You Father for Your Word that You gave us to learn from and to see how things are to be done, in a way that pleases You.
