Stand and Face Your Goliath

Good Wednesday Morning Blog Family. I pray everyone’s week has been safe and blessed so far. If you get up in the mornings with praise to our Heavenly Father on your lips, then I know your week has been and will be good. Praise the Mighty Name of Jesus.

This morning, I want to bring a Bible story back to your remembrance to help you get through some tough times in your life. Those tough times that are so big or so long lasting that you don’t know from one day to the next how and if you will make it. Well, let me assure you that there is nothing too big for our God to handle and we have seen that over and over again in the Bible. I am sure we all know the story of David and Goliath, where the young boy named David killed a giant named Goliath with a stone and a sling shot. Just in case you don’t know the story, keep reading.

1 Samuel 17:45-50 reads, “(45)David said to the Philistine,” You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (46)This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. (47)All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.” (48)As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. (49)Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. (50)So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.”

Now that your memory has been refreshed about David and Goliath, I can move forward with my point. Whatever Goliath you are facing, whatever your Goliath is, know like David that God can and will deliver you from it. As long as you have faith in Him and trust Him to bring His Word to pass, it shall be done in your life the same as it was brought to pass in David’s life. It doesn’t matter what faces your Goliath has, it is not too big for God, nothing you face will every be too big for God. Just know and remember that God is bigger than anything, it does not matter what it is. Like David, don’t run from your Goliath, run to your Goliath, knowing God is with you.

Goliath’s come to us in many different ways, but whatever way he comes, he does not catch God by surprise. It may be losing a loved one and your whole world stops, just know that God is bigger than that. It may be caring for a disabled family member and being drained of your strength and energy every day, just know that God is bigger than that. Maybe you are going through financial difficulties right now and trying to make ends meet, just know that God is bigger than that. Maybe someone has walked out of your life and taken your heart with them leaving you hurt and broken, just know that God is bigger that. You may have received a bad health report from the doctor and you don’t know what to do, just know that God is bigger than that. Maybe there is an addiction you are trying to beat and you just can’t seem to overcome it, just know that God is bigger than that.

Whenever Goliath shows up in our lives, we sometimes get fearful because he is so much bigger than we are. We become weak in our faith, we begin to allow doubt to set in and we may even begin to question God. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 reads, “(9)But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (10)That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

So please remember, God has already equipped you with your stone and sling shot to defeat any and every Goliath that stands before you. In your weakness, you are made strong in His strength. Now, go out and defeat your Goliath and rejoice in the victory through Jesus, your strength. God Bless πŸ™‚
