What Kind Of Christian Are You?

Good Monday Morning Blog Family. I pray you and your families had a safe and blessed weekend. Ready to take on another awesome week, staying on the path that was chosen for you. Seeking God in everything and all things in order to have a blessed week.

This morning, the title of my blog is in the form of a question. I ask this question because I see people that call themselves a Christian. Although their attitudes and personalities are far from being Christ like. They are very selfish and not concerned with anyone but themselves. They make everything about them, not about Jesus.

I have listed below a few of these different types of people that say they are Christians:

  1. Let’s say you are out and about and see a person asking for a little help. Are you the kind of Christian that sees this person in need, but you get real busy as not to see them. You know, pretend to talk on your phone as you pass and not pay them any attention. You don’t see them, you don’t hear them, it’s like they don’t exist to you. You have made this person invisible to you. So, you keep going without acknowledging them at all. But, you say you are a Christian.
  2. There’s a person in need and you see what is going on, but you don’t want to be around them. You don’t want to get involved, because if you get too close they might ask you to do something. They might even ask you for something. So, you don’t do anything to help because it is not your problem. Let someone else do it, you have problems of your own. Showing no love or concern for anyone but yourself. Very selfish, but you say you are a Christian.
  3. What about the kind of Christian that does just enough to say I did something. It may not even be enough or it may not even be what they need. But you did it for the wrong reason and just for the brownie points. To make yourself look good and to say at least you did something, you tried. Then you want to talk about the little you did just for the pat on the back. Well, you’ve just received your just reward, that pat on the back. But you say you are a Christian.
  4. Then you have the Christian that stops to find out what their story is? Take a minute to pray with them and find out if they know Jesus. To find out if there is something they can do, or is there a way they can help. Buying them a hot meal, giving them a few dollars or even offering to get them a room for the night and a hot shower. This is what real Christians do, they help. They put themselves aside for others as Jesus would have done.

Matthew 25:40-45 reads, 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ 41 “Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite Me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after Me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help You?’ 45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.’

I would like to suggest another short reading for you. The next time you are reading your Bible. Read the Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. A very good story of a real Christian.

Always remember, don’t ever look down at someone unless you are looking and reaching down to help lift them up. That should be the only time you look down at anyone. So, I will ask you again, what kind of Christian are you? God Bless 🙂
