What Kind of Christian Are You?

Iask this question because I see people that call themselves a Christian. Although their attitudes and personalities are far from being Christ like.

I have listed below a few of these different types of Christians:

  1. Let’s say you are out and about and see a person asking for a little help. Are you the kind of Christian that sees this person in need, but you get real busy as not to see them. You know, pretend to talk on your phone as you pass and not pay them any attention. You don’t see them, you don’t hear them, it’s like they don’t exist to you.
  2. There’s a person in need and you see what is going on, but you don’t want to be around them. You don’t want to get involved, because if you get too close they might ask you to do something. So, you don’t do anything to help because it is not your problem. You’re a Christian but you have problems of your own.
  3. What about the kind of Christian that does just enough to say I did something. It may not even be enough or it may not even be what they need. But you did it for the wrong reason and just for the brownie points. To make yourself look good and to say at least you did something, you tried.
  4. Then you have the Christian that stops to find out what their story is? Take a minute to pray with them and find out if they know Jesus. To find out if there is something they can do, or is there a way they can help. Buying them a hot meal, giving them a few dollars or even offering to get them a room for the night and a hot shower.

I would like you to take a few minutes and read below Luke 10:25-37. A very good Word.

Luke 10:25-37New King James Version

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

25 And behold, a certain [a]lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?

27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”

29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among [b]thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, [c]when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”

37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Always remember, don’t ever look down at someone unless you are looking and reaching down to help lift them up. That should be the only time you look down at anyone. So, I will ask you again, what kind of Christian are you? God Bless 🙂

Prayer

Father God, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord and Savior. Giving You all of the praise, honor and glory that belongs to You. Help us to live our lives and a Good Samaritan as talked about in Luke 10:25-37. Having a heart like Jesus, to always be willing to help some one in need. Help us to be more like Jesus in our everyday walk with You. Amen.
