What’s Your Morning Addiction?

Good Monday Morning Blog Family. Praying everyone had a safe and blessed weekend and ready to start a new week in the Lord. I know I am, ready to see what my Father has in store for me this week. Praise God.

Let’s talk a few minutes about that not so nice word, “addiction.” The definition of addiction reads, “the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.” So, what is your morning addiction? What is that one thing you have to do or have in the morning as soon as your eyes open? Is it that first cup of coffee, a nicotine product, morning talk show, checking face book or texting a friend? We all have a morning addiction of some kind.

I woke up this morning and my first thought was to get up and make my breakfast smoothie and go for my morning walk. Although, that was my first thought, I always have my bathroom time first, get dressed, get before my Father in prayer while I am walking. Then, after my walk and time with Him, I come in and make my smoothie, post my blog, read my devotions and Bible reading for the day. That is my morning plans, but sometimes my mornings does not go according to my plans.

So, that made me start thinking about my morning addiction, which used to be that first cup of coffee, but now its a smoothie. I had never looked at it that way before. Some mornings I wake up, I say Good Morning Father, Good Morning Jesus, Good Morning Holy Spirit and Good Morning Angels. Being thankful for a good night sleep and a blessed morning. I don’t do this every morning when my eyes open, but I should. Talking to my Heavenly Father should happen automatically when He opens my eyes every morning. Letting Him know how thankful I am that He kept me and my family and loved ones through the night once again. Never leaving us throughout our daily journey, which could be work, school, daycare, shopping, vacation or whatever it may be. He is always right there with us.

What if our morning addiction was seeking God as soon as He (not us) opened our eyes? Thanking Him for waking us up and keeping us safe through the night. Thanking Him for another day that was not promised to us. Giving Him our day and listening for His instructions. Think about the type of day we would have. Blessed, prosperous and victorious. Now, some of us may be doing just that and if so, that is amazing. For those who are not waking up every morning with praise and thanksgiving on your lips, you may want to make some morning changes. God Bless 🙂

Prayer

Father God, we come to You this morning in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord and Savior. With praise and thanksgiving on our lips for everything and all things that You do for us, Your children. Father, give us a heart after You to want to seek You first thing in the morning when You open our eyes. You are such a good and gracious God and we love You so much. Amen.
