Good Monday Morning Blog Family. I pray everyone had a safe and blessed weekend and ready to start a new week in the Lord. Praise God.
This morning I would like to talk to you about what happens when God speaks. I am sure all of you are very familiar with the Book of Genesis, the first Book in the Bible. Now, when you read how everything began, it was by God speaking. Everything that was made or formed it started by God saying and then it was. I have listed a few examples below so you will know what I am trying to explain:
Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Genesis 1:6 And God said,” Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water. So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.
Genesis 1:9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” and it was so.
Genesis 1:11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.
So, I have listed four examples above of everything that came to be because God spoke and it was so. When God speaks, things come into existence, circumstances change, people are healed, bondages are broken and people are set free. If it wasn’t before God speaks, it will be when He speaks. We must realize, when God speaks it is always for a reason and things happen.
God doesn’t speak just to hear Himself talk, He speaks because He is trying to make things happen in your life. He’s trying to get your blessings to you and your prayers answered. I was reading a very good book by Priscilla Shirer titled, “Discerning The Voice Of God” and let me tell you, it is a must read. In this book she made a statement that made me think about if for a few minutes. She said, “God does not speak just to be heard, He speaks to be obeyed.” You know how you already know these things, but when you actually hear it or read it, it becomes a Wow moment. Wow, not only do we have to listen for God to speak to us but we also have to obey what He says too. Yes, that is exactly correct.
We go before God and sit, talk, pray and listen all day long, but do we obey what we hear Him say to us in our hearts or in His Word? Why even ask for His help if we are not going to do what He instructs us to do. When He tells us to do something, it is not for His benefit it is for ours. We have to remember we can do nothing without Him. We may think that we are the cause of a lot of the good things that happen in our lives, but we are not. John 15:5 reads, “I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing.” So, there you have it straight from the mouth of Jesus, without Him you can do nothing.
So, dear hearts, think about the next time you hear God speak to you, just be ready to obey. Whatever He is speaking into your life, remember it is for your benefit, not His. God Bless 🙂
Prayer
Father God, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord and Savior. Asking that You help us to be obedient to whatever it is that You may ask of us. Whether it’s an answered prayer, needing Your leading and guidance or whatever it may be, give us a heart to obey. Thank You Father and Amen.
