Why Worry When You Have God ?

Good Monday Morning Blog Family. I pray everyone had a safe and blessed weekend, keeping God in the midst. I know I sure had a safe, blessed and awesome weekend. This weekend my sister-in-loves and I had a girls weekend and it was awesome. We had a lot of fun, we laughed, we fellowshipped, we prayed, we ate too much and we got up Sunday morning and went to Sunday school and church. What a way to end one week and start another one. Praise God.

Well, this morning I want to talk about the topic of our Sunday school lesson, which was about worry. My sister-in-loves and I went over our lesson Saturday night and it was amazing. We talked about how worry affects us and what distractions the devil sets in place to get our eyes off of God. What is your biggest distraction? One of my sister-in-loves said our biggest distraction was the “what if’s” and that is so true. We are always worrying about what if this happens, or what if this doesn’t happen, or what if I don’t get it (whatever it may be), what if, what if, what if? Whether you admit being guilty of the what if syndrome or not, I know I am. We find ourselves worrying about things that have not even happened yet. This is when we need to stop and pray and trust God.

I think we worry when we focus on the wrong things. If we were to keep our minds on God and be obedient to His Word, then we have no place or time for worry. Isaiah 26:3 reads, “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” We stress ourselves out with worrying about things that we have no control over or that we can’t do anything about. If you were to just stop and think about it, what can you worrying about anything do? Nothing but stress you out even more and put your health at risk. God is the only One that can change a situation and make things happen. We worry about upcoming problems in the future that may not even come to pass, problems that aren’t even here yet. Matthew 6:34 reads “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” So, your Heavenly Father even tells you not to worry about tomorrow, just focus on today. Either way, He’s got you.

Why worry when you have God? Now if you are not a child of God and you are going through this life on your own, then you have a reason to worry. If you are a child of God, you don’t have to worry unless you just want to worry. Because as a child of God, all we have to do is take whatever is worrying us and give it to God and let Him handle it. Psalm 55:22 reads, “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” The word sustain means, “strengthen or support physically or mentally.” So, God has you covered physically or mentally, he already knows what we need and don’t need even before we do. So, give it to Him and rest in the joy of the Lord and in His peace. Philippians 4:6 reads, “And the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Nehemiah 8:10 reads, “for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Psalm 28:7 reads, “The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” So, the next time you feel worrying coming on, burst out in songs of praise and worship to God and thank Him. God has got everything that concerns you, your family and loved ones under control. He does not need your help so get out of His way and let Him do what only God can do. Enjoy the journey. God Bless πŸ™‚
