You Can’t Live For God And The World

Good Monday Morning Blog Family. Praying all of you, your families and loved ones had a safe and blessed weekend, ready to embark upon a brand new week. Filled with all of the grace and mercy of God, which we know is new every morning. Given another opportunity to be a part of another glorious day that God has made, in which we will rejoice and be glad in it. Being ever so grateful and thankful for all God does for us and for who He is in our daily lives. Praise His Holy Name.

Last night I was doing my Bible reading and I was reading in the Book of Galatians. I came across some reading that I have read many times before, but this time it was different when I read it. I always ask the Holy Spirit to help me get everything out of the Word that I am supposed to get out of it when I read and study, and understand what I read. So, maybe this time I was supposed to focus on what jumped out at me. My husband and I had been discussing something that we had heard listening to online church Sunday morning. So, when I read what I read in Galatians, I shared it with him, I was reading Galatians 5:16-26. Please read below:

Walking in the Spirit

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [a]adultery, [b]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, [c]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [d]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

These things listed above whether they are in our past or in our present, they need to be let go of. When my husband and I were listening to church, the message being taught was “Breaking Up With Your Past” and these are things that you need to break up with. When I was reading this in Galatians, my thought was, “you can’t truly walk in the Spirit doing any of those things.” People think they can, because there are Christian people that are struggling with some of those same issues. Not realizing they are not truly walking in the Spirit because of the worldly things you are partaking of. You cannot serve God and this world, you will have to sever one or the other. Matthew 6:24 reads,” 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

So, think about your daily walk and make sure you are walking in the Spirit, not doing any of those things listed above in Galatians 5:16-2. Walking with God is always better than anything the world has to offer. God Bless 🙂
