Your Actions Speak Louder Than Your Words

Good Wednesday Morning Blog Family and how’s your morning? Even though my morning is cloudy it is still a beautiful morning. I pray wherever you are that you are having a beautiful morning as well. Praise God.

I have a question for you this morning, a little something to think about. If I asked you if you loved Jesus, what would you say? Now, if you are a Christian, I know you would say, “Yes, I love Jesus very much,” and you wouldn’t have to give it a second thought. It would just automatically come out because as a Christian we are to love Jesus. We love Jesus because of all that He has done for us and because He first loved us. As Christians this is the way we think and this is what we say. So, now as Christians, read the Bible verse below and then answer that same question. Do you love Jesus?

John 14:21-24 reads, “(21)Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”(22)Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”(23)Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. (24)Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.”

So now, I will ask that same question again, “Do you love Jesus?” Are you obedient to what He tells you to do and live the way He tells you to live? Because if you do not, then you may want to rethink your love for Him. The first sentence in John 14, Jesus said, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.” Then down a little further He said, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching.” So, this came straight from the mouth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He even went a little further to let you know this didn’t just come from Him but from our Heavenly Father, the One who sent Him.

Basically, when I read this scripture, it tells me that if I am not obeying the teachings of Jesus and being obedient to his commands, then I do not love Him, He made it very plain and clear for us to understand exactly what He was saying. It’s very simple, if you obey Jesus then you love Jesus. If you do not obey Jesus then you do not love Jesus. There is nothing left not to understand, right? This is why being in the Word every day and reading and studying your Bible if very important on this journey. As the old saying goes, “Your actions speak louder than your words,” and that is such a true statement. My husband can tell me all day everyday that he loves me, but if he doesn’t show it, then those words mean nothing, just empty words.

This is how I look at what Jesus is saying to us in John 14:21-24. If we love Him we will show him that love by being obedient. You can’t say you love Jesus and mean it and then live as the world lives. Now you can do that if that’s what you choose to do, but the love for Jesus is not in you, not real love. So, think about that for a while and look at how you live your daily lives. Are you in the Bible finding out what the commands of Jesus are and then keeping them. Loving Him the way that shows Him just how much you really love Him. Remember, He loved us by giving His life on the cross for us and He still shows us every day just how much He love us. Now show Him just how much you love Him and appreciate all He has done and still doing by obeying His teachings. God Bless

Prayer

Father God, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord and Savior. Thanking You for giving us Your one and only Son Jesus Christ. Now Father, help us to love Him the way He wants us to love Him, by obeying what He tells us and teaches us. In His Mighty Name we pray. Amen
